What is Hypnosis?

Clinical Hypnosis is powerful medicine used to treat a variety of conditions that negatively impact people’s lives.  Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation whereby, a person’s focus is on being open to suggestions that help reach personal goals such as smoking cessation, fear of flying, or general life problems.  In a state of hypnosis people take subconscious information and transfer it to a rational level.  Hypnosis is a state of mind where the body is relaxed and the mind is open and able to do things the person knew they could do.  Hypnosis is a way around distorted conscious thoughts that allow the subconscious mind to integrate suggestions that will improve a person’s quality of life.  Many practitioners of hypnosis in psychotherapy find their patients make faster progress toward their goals then through traditional psychotherapy.

Who is a candidate for clinical hypnosis?

People with open minds who are motivated and willing to use their imaginations do very well with clinical hypnosis. The depth of hypnosis varies with each person’s ability to respond.  Even someone who is not naturally responsive can improve his receptivity to hypnosis with practice.

How Can Hypnosis Help You?

The ability to reprogram emotional attitudes and reactions is within every human being.
Hypnosis is the fastest and best way to change life-long patterns. Why suffer with a
lifetime of emotional scarring?  With hypnosis, we can help you learn to accept, forgive,
heal, and consequently love yourself and others.  As we learn to coexist, we are better
able to achieve our personal and professional goals.

Far more than breaking out of old habit patterns, you can build a better future with
hypnosis!  We work with each client to bring freedom from negative addictions,
unwanted habits and oppressive patterns.  We can help regain balance and align you

with your inner resources.  This results in improving self-esteem, increasing self-love
and finding real joy!
This can happen on a mental, emotional, physical or spiritual
level, or it can occur on all of these levels simultaneously.

There are times when one hypnotherapy session can be effective in achieving your goal, but hypnosis is a tool, not a magic bullet. Its effectiveness is a combination of positive suggestion and your determination to achieve your goal. With some people, multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired effect.  FBHS reserves the right to tape any sessions for our records. All client records/material are kept in confidence. Be aware that hypnosis, meditation, and counseling require your complete and willing participation to be effective. Unlike the movies, under hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything that you do not truly desire to do, or anything that violates your moral, personal, or religious convictions. Positive and wonderful changes can happen if you truly desire them to. You are an active part of that process. After your session(s), please take 5 or l0 minutes to relax in our waiting area. This transitional period will be helpful to you.

What Can I Expect in a Hypnosis Session?

You rest in a recliner, with soft music in the background.  You close your eyes
and relax, while listening to my voice.  You aren't really asleep.  Your conscious
mind is resting, while your subconscious mind is open to suggestions.

Is Hypnosis Medically Approved?

The American Medical Association approved the use of hypnosis in 1958.

Goals of hypnosis

The goal of hypnosis is to train people how to be their own best friends to help them achieve better quality of life.  A trained hypnotist teaches patients how to put themselves in trance like states to better achieve their own goals. Ultimately, all hypnosis is self hypnosis.

Mental imagery is very powerful, especially in a focused state of attention. The mind seems capable of using imagery, even if it is only symbolic, to assist us in bringing about  the things we are imagining.
