Pet Loss

Our pets can be our truest, most steadfast friends. Their love is unconditional and their loyalty unfailing. They lend a gentle ear, made us laugh, and soothe our souls. When a pet dies, it is natural to feel sorrow and grief and to mourn the loss of such an important part of our lives. However, we often find it difficult to acknowledge grief over a pet because of the fear of seeming silly. Be re-assured that sorrow and grief are normal, natural responses to the death of your pet.

With understanding, compassion and support, we work to guide individuals and families through the grief process.

Feelings of guilt, emptiness, anger and confusion can be overwhelming. Pet loss counseling provides guidance and support during this difficult time.

What is pet loss?

Your pet has died or been diagnosed with a terminal illness and you face the difficult decision of euthanasia.

Your pet was in an accident.

Pet has runaway or been stolen.

A custody battle or loss of a pet due to divorce.

An animal companion must be given up due to an allergy.

A senior citizen must enter a nursing home and give up his or her pet.

Those who are grieving the loss of a companion animal may find comfort in the Pet Loss Support Group, where they can share their experience in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.
